[Industry News] Synthesizers Target INTELSAT Systems Jack Browne | ED Online ID #18889 | May 5, 2008
MITEQ's LFTS series of low-phase-noise frequency synthesizers are well suited for INTELSAT applications. The sources feature standard 100-Hz step sizes, and provide an additional output port that can be used as a second-stage conversion local oscillator (LO). Available models include the LFTS5090, which operates from 50 to 90 MHz with +13 dBm output power and 1.5-dB output-power flatness, and model LFTS155330, which tunes from 155 to 330 MHz with +13 dBm output power and 1.5-dB output-power flatness. Both synthesizers suppress second harmonics to -20 dBc with in-band spurious content of -65 dBc or better. The higher-frequency unit offers phase noise of -78 dBc/Hz offset 100 Hz from the carrier and -98 dBc/Hz offset 10 kHz from the carrier. The lower-frequency synthesizer exhibits phase noise of -89 dBc/Hz offset 100 Hz from the carrier and -109 dBc/Hz offset 10 kHz from the carrier.
