WOBURN, MA—Skyworks Solutions, Inc. congratulated Samsung on winning two FEMTO cell awards. Jang Young Shil, which is presented by the Maeil Business Newspaper—an economic daily in Korea—and the Korea Industrial Technology Association (KOITA)—operated by the Korean government—is granted based on technological importance, originality, and economic value. In addition, Samsung was awarded the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES) Best of Innovations 2008 in the Wireless Handsets Accessories category for UbiCell, a small, personal base station that installs without any technical assistance and works with users’ mobile phones to provide secure, indoor cellular service over existing broadband networks.

SAN DIEGO, CA—StratEdge has been certified for ISO 9001:2000 at its new facility, which opened in November 2007. Achieving this certification indicates that StratEdge meets specific requirements for a quality management system. The new StratEdge facility serves as its international headquarters as well as its R&D, design, manufacturing, and assembly and test services center. It contains 12,268 square feet and includes a Class 100 manufacturing area for the precision bare-die assembly of the company’s high-performance packages. Those packages operate at frequencies from DC to over 50 GHz.

BEAVERTON, OR—Tektronix, Inc. announced that Murray Associates—registered as Spybusters, LLC—has selected a Tektronix Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer (RTSA) with DPX live RF display technology to help the security consultancy identify wireless eavesdropping devices. Such devices may be located in clients’ facilities including boardrooms and security trading floors. The RTSA instrument enables the firm to quickly and efficiently spot sophisticated listening devices—even in challenging environments where there are many competing signals.

To increase the level of confidence in pinpointing wireless listening devices, Spybusters has begun using a Tektronix Real-Time Spectrum Analyzer with the DPX live RF spectrum display technology. DPX processes more than 48,000 spectrum measurements per second, which is vital to spotting short-duration events. It also produces a live RF spectrum display that reveals previously unseen RF signals and signal anomalies. The RTSA provides 100-percent probability of intercepting and displaying signals as short as 24 ms in duration. Typically, conventional swept spectrum analyzers do not exceed 50 spectrum measurements per second. This limitation makes it possible for a signal to elude discovery.
